Mug Cakes are quite popular these days and they have a good reason to be that famous. They are literally one pot dessert ( a mug in this case ) from start to finish. All you need is a good coffee/tea mug which can go in the microwave . You can eat it all by yourself or share it with family. Either ways it’s great for portion control. It’s a perfect size dessert for your family. You get to eat it without over indulging yourselves. And the best part is you can make it on any week night since it is that easy.
My recipe has been inspired from three different recipes which I read on internet. This is how my final recipe looks like. Keep reading to find out how easy this cake is. Please note that this recipe is good for 16 oz mug. It will rise to the top of the mug. Depending on your mug size you may adjust the ingredients accordingly
Serves: 2-4
Level: Very easy
Course : Dessert
Prep. Time : 2 Minutes
Baking Time: 1 Minute
Ready In : 5 Minutes
Ingredients
- ½ cup Whole wheat flour
- 1/3 cup Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Cocoa powder
- ¼ tsp Baking Soda
- ¼ tsp Salt
- 6 Tbsp Milk
- 2 Tbsp oil
- ½ tsp Vanilla extract
Directions
Combine all the dry ingredients 1 -5 from the above list in the mug . Stir in milk, oil and vanilla. . Mix all of them with a fork. Microwave at high setting for 1 minute. If the cake mix is still wet bake for another minute. The baking time might vary due to different settings of microwave. But make sure you don’t over cook as that will make the cake hard. So keep an eye on the mug.
Serving Suggestions
You can top the cake with whipped cream and any seasonal fruit OR whipped cream + sprinkles OR just with some berries as I have done in the picture. There is no particular way to make it look fancy. The cake itself will taste so good that you may not even want to use any topping.
Will you try this cake? I say go for it. You won’t be disappointed. After all it’s just a matter of 5 minutes and a handful of ingredients.
