Valentine Tea Party

Love In A Tea Cup !!

When you see over priced flowers and chocolates in the supermarket, and when almost everything displayed is either red or heart shaped, you know Valentine’s day is around the corner. Whether you are a single, dating or married, you know how you are going to celebrate it . Or maybe you are not charmed by it like many others.

I have mixed feelings about this holiday. I like the idea of treating my loved ones in a special way. If you know me then you also know that I like doing simple things in a fancy way, my style. I would definitely skip the hassle of a restaurant and instead spoil them with a carefully thought of an easy yet sumptuous home cooked meal.  Every year I try to do something different, and this year I planned a tea party in the spirit of Valentine’s Day. This idea has been brewing in my mind ever since we stepped in the  New Year. And the sub zero temperatures off lately in Colorado gave me a good hint that I should go ahead with my plans.

For the Tea party, I wanted to make something for everyone in my family.  My older son has been craving for Chocolate Dipped Strawberries for quite sometime. So I knew it was the right time to surprise him. For my ‘Oldest’ Valentine, I baked Walnut Raisin Scones.  And for my special Valentine, my mom, who is visiting us these days, I made Avocado Sprout Sandwiches which happen to be my favorite too. I served these with hot Chai Latte. Now I need not mention that we all ate a little bit of everything ! Just that everyone had his/ her favorite snack on the table. I will take rest of this month to share the recipes.

The Tea party menu  looked like this:

       Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

Walnut Raisin Scones served with Strawberry Jam

       Avocado Sprout Sandwiches

       Chai latte

       Citrus Green Tea

I’m assuming they all enjoyed the tea as they were all busy eating and helping themselves to seconds ( and third servings:) They looked happy.

How did you celebrate Valentine’s Day ?
