Cuisine American
- 6 oz White Chocolate
- 3 oz Dark Chocolate
- 5 Peppermint candies, crushed
- 1 tsp Peppermint extract (optional )
Melt half of the white chocolate (3 oz) according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Pour the melted chocolate out onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and spread out with a spatula or wooden spoon. Sprinkle the peppermint candy chunks on to the chocolate. Keep this 1st layer in deep freezer.
Meanwhile melt all of the dark chocolate in the broiler (6-8 minutes). If you are using peppermint extract this is the time to mix it with the melted dark chocolate.
Take out the first layer from freezer & pour the melted dark chocolate over it. Sprinkle some crushed peppermint candy on the top. Keep these 2 layers back into the freezer.
Melt the remaining white chocolate ( 3 oz) in the broiler ( 5 minutes approximately ).
Again take out the two layers from the freezer & pour the melted white chocolate & the remaining peppermint candy chunks.
Let all the three layers ( white-dark-white) cool in the freezer for 15 minutes or until firm.
Remove from the cookie sheet & break into small pieces. It's traditionally broken into pieces but you may use cookie cutter. Either way dip your knife or cookie cutter in hot water.
A word of advice : Please don't try to microwave the chocolate. Always use a double broiler.
I've used 'Baker's Premium White Chocolate Baking Squares' & 'Green & Black's Organic Dark Chocolate With Mint'. Since this dark chocolate already has mint flavor, I didn't use peppermint extract in the recipe.
You may use more of dark & less of white chocolate. In that case use 3 oz white & 6 Oz dark chocolate. You will get dark-white-dark alternating layers.
