Travelling with babies/toddlers  requires patience and some advanced planning.

While I was compiling  Travel Mama – 1 ( packing list for the whole family),  I realized these youngest family members need a separate article to cover their essentials.

After all, if they are happy during the vacation, everyone else is !

Infant / Toddler  Items

Clothing – Shirts/ Dresses/ Bottoms/ Socks/ Underwears/ Night wear/ Swimwear

Extra Sheets ( Infants ) , Blankets

Two pairs of shoes

Cups, sippy cups, bottles

Feeding cover ( if breast fed)

Sling/ Front Carrier

Milk Formula (Pre-measured into a plastic container with serving dividers)

Boiled water in a thermos ( road trips especially if your baby drinks only fresh made formula milk)

Breast Pump ( if applicable)

Snacks + Washable Bibs + Baby forks/spoons/plates

Activities ( coloring books, few crayons, 1-2 favorite toys, 1-2 new toys )

Diaper Bag

Diapers + wipes + Diaper cream + Changing pads ( disposable )

Plastic bags for soiled diapers

Extra clothes

Portable crib ( We never carried)

Car seat , Stroller/ umbrella stroller

Medications –  Cough, cold, fever, gas, allergies, band aids, ointments, thermometer, gauze pads

Nose aspirator

Suckers/ candy for toddlers (to be used only if needed )

Baby lotion, Baby wash, Wash cloths

Sun hat + Sunscreen

Hand sanitizer – I keep two sets of hand sanitizer and wet wipes. One in the diaper bag and the other set for  the whole family.

Additional Tips

Keep two baby outfits for each day.

Keep some snacks for yourself to munch on.

Take the phone number of your baby’s pediatrician, just in case.

Keep all the medicines in zip lock bags.

Keep extra zip lock bags.

You may not be using all of the stuff above, but it’s always a good idea to travel with the essentials.

And don’t forget to check the travel check list for the entire family.

Let m know in the comments if I forgot to mention any important item in the list.

  2. nice check list!! I am sure moms would babies would find this super useful!

  3. Gosh, it sounds like u basically need to bring everything in the nursery other than the furniture. I bet lists like this help first time parents make traveling with their kiddo MUCH less stressful

  4. Great list! I will share this post with one of my friend who is blessed with baby girl recently!

  5. Beth Shankle Anderson

I don’t have children, but these lists seem quite comprehensive to me and a great way to keep track of everything.

  6. Great tips! You covered it all. Sharing this with my sister who just gave birth a couple of weeks ago.

  7. I’m not a mom…yet. But I can only imagine how handy these tips would be. I totally have a secret pinterest board for future baby Dial…so I’ll put this there for safekeeping. 🙂

  8. This is a great list for me to share with my sister in law. I think having cheat sheets are so helpful. Thank you for making this one.

  9. Aww, I love the cute little picture of the baby with the backpack full of stuff. I don’t have kiddos and I’d probably forget half of these things.

  10. Great tips! It’s always advisable to pack more than the required essentials in case of toddlers because you never know, when it’s required!

  11. Great tips! I need to share this post with one of my friend who is blessed with baby girl recently!

  12. Wow. I’m not a parent so I look at this list and basically see “bring the whole darn nursery”. I totally agree that when babies are happy they are much more of a joy to travel with as I’ve been on a flight with the mom who apparently didn’t use your list and now is paying the price.

  13. Great list! When traveled with my little ones I was always looking for a good comprehensive list!

  14. Great list for mummy with kids… It’s not easy to travel with kids, but this is a great help!

  15. Great list, remember my full packed bag with my first born.. although I will be honest – as a mom of 3, my youngest def. doesn’t get a bunch of things just for him. lol You learn to make due and carry as little as possible. 🙂

  16. Very useful list. The baby category is the most extensive packing

  17. I don’t have any kiddos but at least now I’ll be able to do a check to make sure my friends have everything they need when they travel.

  18. Great tips to have on hand. There is always something so small yet important that is overlooked!
