Aloo Raita ( Spiced Yogurt with Potatoes)

This side dish is quick to make and tastes great. I often make this raita as my family loves potatoes and any dish with potatoes is always a big hit ! This goes well with curries , lentils and especially with whole wheat tortilla and any sauteed vegetables. This is an excellent snack for those who are fasting during navratras.

Ingredients

 

1 Cup fresh, plain yogurt
1/2  teaspoon roasted, powdered, cumin seeds ( optional )
1/2  teaspoon rock salt/ black salt
salt and ground black pepper as per taste
1/2 cup finely diced boiled potatoes
1 tbsp finely chopped cilantro leaves

 

Directions

 

  • Beat yogurt to remove any knots.
  • Add all the spices. Mix well.
  • Add potatoes and cilantro. Mix them well so that they blend with the yogurt.
  • Serve cold.

 

Serving suggestions

 

Enjoy this dish with your favorite curry and whole wheat naan / pulav.
