Happy 2012

A quick shot of Fun
It has been a while we had not been to any vacation. So we were very much ready for one !
We were not contending with the long road trips and crowded flights. To ease the whole process of trip planning & to keep our toddler entertained, we planned this short road trip. You may also call it a ski trip as my hubby dear has been longing to go skiing. Our son, who after watching a couple of videos of snow tubing, was suddenly a big fan of this adventure sport. He too, like his daddy, was looking forward to this vacation. As for me, I knew how to go with the flow !

Celebrating New Year’s Eve in a ski town is not a novel concept but for us it was our first time to be away from the comfort of home & braving the chill in the beautiful town of Frisco, which is quite close to  some good ski slopes and a two hour drive from Colorado Springs. If you have been to that part of Colorado, you know that Frisco makes a loop with towns of Breckenridge, Silverthorne, Dillon & Keystone. And all five of these towns are interconnected through picturesque short road drives.

We had gotten a taste of autumn in these ski towns back in September 2010 on a weekend sojourn. So,we already knew from our last visit that this area has a lot more to offer in winter. Even in the freezing winters, these Ski towns barely misses a beat.

Between the skiing, snow tubing, ice skating & some local sightseeing, we managed to try out different cuisines, making some good food choices. Not even a single meal disappointed us.All the restaurantsthere are family owned, hence the authentic flavors ! And I had the best Hot Chocolate at a local book cafe on the Main Street, Frisco. Here is the list of Restaurants worth trying in that area:

Ollie’s Pub & Grub, Breckenridge
Butterhorn Bakery & Cafe, Frisco

Himalaya,Frisco ( Indian)

La Hacienda,Frisco ( Mexican)
China Gourmet, Silverthorne

Amusing, Refreshing &  priceless …. that’s how a vacation should be.
And ours was no less than that plus a fresh way to ring in 2012.

  1. How fun! I love Ollie's. Great food
